Minutes of the August 27th
TC Motoring Guild General Meeting
New members Bill Sopkin and Marion Goldstein arrived at our Guild meeting about 7:45 and were wondering where everyone was. As new members they are not accustomed to our TCMG time keeping. Guess after so many years of relying on our TC clocks mounted in the tachometer, our members have become casual about reading any clock. True to form, our 8:00 meeting began about 8:17. Dave tried to get out of reading the minutes of the last meeting by saying everyone should have read the minutes in the newsletter, but the ploy didn't work and made the oral presentation. They were accepted without change.

Joyce briefed us on our financial condition. We have $2,968.56 that is not earmarked for anything. Our YTD income is $3,508 and expenses are $2,065. Bank balance currently is $4,742. She continued with the membership report that we now have 101 members.

Stan Belland made the formal introduction of Bill and Marion. They were former neighbors when Bill & Marion lived in Cambria before their move down South.

And while Stan had the floor, he introduced Morris Mintz, our guest speaker tonight, who runs West Valley Instruments. Stan gave us the rundown on the programs for the rest of the year. Old Movie Night at the Simon Auto Museum in September, our Halloween bash in October, Bill Young speaking on auto sales in November and then our Holiday Party in December.

Cindy, our event chair was not able to make it but Ron read her report. The Santa Barbara weekend event is on November 15-17 and we will be staying at the Marina Beach Motel, within view of the pier this year. The Pedersens are working out some activities and a flyer will go out when details are known.

Harvey Schnaer is back home now from the convalescent home but still can't over do it. Hope to see him a future meetings. Stan Roman is doing much better and is scheduled to come home too in a week or two. Still has a lot of recovery to do but he is headed in the right direction.

Jay Call had done some internet research and came across some California legislation in the works that could affect our TCs. The bill is AB 1058 and give broad authority on controlling emissions. One of the opponents of this is the ACCC (Association of California Car Clubs) and was wondering if anyone else was familiar with them and wondered if we wanted him to research getting our Guild to be part of the association. Several questions and comments were made and Jay will follow up on this.

David indicated that we have a couple items in our by-laws that need adjusting and that we should get everything organized so we could vote on it at the Holiday Party when most our members are present. Stan said he was working of some changes also.

Joyce reported the December Holiday Party menu was out in the last newsletter and was prepared to start collecting menu choices and money.

Phil shouts to Mike to go hide the TC
and then buy a Woodland Green blouse for Sharon.

Morris Mintz gives us some excellent pointers
on instrument restoration and maintenance

We decided that was enough business and that we should adjourn the meeting so we could socialize some more and let Morris set up for his talk on instrumentation.
