General Meeting Minutes
of the TC Motoring Guild

Our July picnic at the Henkels home was a pleasant one. Perfect weather, perfect gathering spot, perfect company, but alas no NSYNC music this year (nor the traffic to go along with it thank goodness).

We meandered around Tony's work shop oohing and aahing, were awed by the toy room in the house and visited with each other for a bit while everyone arrived. And in good Guild fashion we then broke out the food and proceeded to visit some more over our picnic dinners. We were quite comfortable as Cindy and Tony had set up plenty of tables and chairs for us to relax in and Guild banners that Cindy had made up to look at. Cindy even had made up some lovely TC stationary for door prizes. Somehow all the winners (Wilmers and Bellands) came from one table so we razzed them about that but they didn't give up their prizes.

We had a short business meeting because we knew that dessert would follow. Ron Simon our president ran into a glitch and couldn't make the meeting and our VP couldn't attend either so the duties fell on the secretary, David. He fumbled around a little trying to remember how to handle such an unruly crowd but lived through it. Joyce gave us the low down on our financial condition. Seems we have spent$2009 so far this year but have brought in $3,390 so far giving us a bank balance of $4680. We anticipate over $1800 more in expenses still so that cut short the gangs rendition of "We're in the Money."

Last month Jay Call was our newest member, but now he is part of the old guard and Gene Olson was introduced as the newbie. It was reported that we now have 99 members in the Guild. In addition to Jay and Gene being present at the meeting/picnic we had the following in attendance. Joe Douglas, David & Joyce Edgar, Bob & Charlotte Wilmer, Stan & Esther Belland, Gordon & Mimi Glass, David & Susie Coleman, Tony & Cindy Henkels, and Don & Sally Yett. And while he was not there, new member Bill Sopkin, came to the meeting, but was off on his calendar and came on Wednesday. Hopefully we can all meet Bill next month.
We forwent the reading of the minutes of the last meeting as it was in the last newsletter. Cindy gave us a run down on the tours coming up. Her wonderful idea of a champagne breakfast at the Elks Club, followed by a run to the the Gene Autry Museum and then an afternoon lunch sounded like it would have to wait. Those in attendance at the meeting liked the sound of the tour but timing wise hardly anyone could make it. We are a busy group with all our other activities. Cindy that she would not be able to plan anything in September as they would be on vacation but invited anyone else that would like to lead a tour then to speak up or contact her. The Conclave in Cambria comes on Oct. 11-13 and the Santa Barbara run on Nov.15-17. She found a place to stay in Santa Barbara near the beach and pier but noted that it was more expensive than where we stayed at the last two years. Everyone voted that the new place sounded like a good plan and Cindy put a hold on the rooms for us.

There was no other pressing business and the aroma of the dessert was calling us so we adjourned the business part of the evening and kicked back and ate and talked.

Do you think we ought to tell Gene this is a TC club and not a VW motorcycle club? Actually this is a home built vehicle Gene made up from aVW and a motorcycle.

Jay Call captured Dave Edgar with his camera and submitted it. Yes, I know the Halloween costume meeting isn't until October but Jay insisted this get published.
