TC Motoring Guild General Meeting

Stan and Anita Roman Return

Stan was looking good as was Anita. Stan negotiated the 9 steps down to the meeting room with very little assistance. He is still building up strength but seems to be doing great. Anita also is doing well. She admits to being tired but looks great as always.

Thanks to the Goodman's for driving them over to the surprise of us all.

Minutes of Meeting
Our dinner / costume / meeting night went very well. After all these years the number one club rule still applies. "If food is involved, people will come." This was one of our larger regular meeting in attendance, followed closely by the July picnic. At any rate we enjoyed the lasagna plus all the extras brought by the members.

Food, great company and a gathering place. The Guild is in heaven.

Sharon and Stan ham it up.

We were a tad bit late starting dinner and finally got to the business part of the meeting by 8:48 PM. We dispensed with the reading of the minutes as everyone had viewed them in the newsletter. Joyce presented the treasures report with $5207 in the bank. We have $2206 of expenses budgeted yet for the year so that leaves us with about $3000 of unallocated funds.

Membership is now up to 102 members with the recent addition of Larry & Kay Leclerc out of North Dakota. Their 1946 TC is under restoration. Larry was known by several of our members including Phil Marino who had done some machine work for him.

Stan gave us the run down on the program for November which is Bill Young explaining how auto sales work and what the various steps are to closing the deal from the perspective of the dealership. Should be most interesting. December is our annual Holiday Party.

Yes, you can have fun even without a TC.

Cindy Henkel said October 23 would be the last day the motel would hold rooms for the Guild on our Santa Barbara Sleepover. There was discussion on the caravan from Dupars but it was up in the air as who would lead as Jim couldn't do it this year. It would be worked out later.

A brief report on the Conclave was presented. Congratulations went out to the Cambria group who were spectacular hosts and who had made up a most wonderful rallye. Everyone really, really enjoyed the weekend and there were 17 TC present. The Crandall's experienced a bad rotor on the way home and Gene Wescott's oil pressure ran lower than he was use to but was within tolerance. Bill Traill had generator pulley problems, the Chalmers a core plug leak and the Edgar's had an oil leak. All made it home eventually safe and sound.

A report on Al Moss's High Country Tour was given as several of our members attended. There were 37 MG's present and Al did a most fine job of organization. Scenery was grand and everyone had a great time.

Gordon gave a report on past Guild members Barry and Sue Swackhamer who are currently sailing around the world. They are still early into the voyage and working out small problems. We wish them a safe and happy sail.

Stan Belland reported on the By-Laws update. Among other things we are correcting our by-laws to reflect the way we actually do business. In other words since we were not following them, we are changing them. Since there was a quorum of officers present, they OK'd the changes and voted to present them to the membership for a vote at the Holiday Party in December.

Nominations for next years' Executive Council were taken. Unless anyone declines, the following will be placed on the ballot. Stan Belland, Jay Call, David Coleman, David Edgar, Joyce Edgar, Kay Einhorn, Gordon Glass, Bobbie Simon and Pete Thelander. Once 6 are elected then they will determine the officers.

Bobbie with her bobbing star.

And with that we adjourned at 9:36 PM to present the costumes. Somehow we didn't vote on a winner but Marion Goldstein was most darling in Bills 60 year old sailor suit. Gordon and Mimi Glass had come up with great motorcycle gang member costumes. The Einhorn looked the part of Chicago Cub Bleacher bums. The Bellands were very masked as a happy couple (They really didn't need masks for that as they really are a happy couple). And Joyce was a baseball player for the night while David dressed as a cop.
