Where are the Board members?
There was a nice turnout to our first meeting of the year and
it was 8:15 but not a Board member in sight. Turns out they were
holding a board meeting beforehand at a local restaurant and
were having trouble getting their bills so they could leave and
get to the meeting. They did arrive and our new president, Stan
Belland brought the meeting to order at 8:25. As our last meeting was the Holiday Party there were no minutes to read so we went on to the treasurers report. Joyce reported that we had a total of $6,019 in the bank and have a projected $5055 of expenses left for the year which gives us $964 of unallocated funds. We still have dues money and advertising coming in. We have had 34 members renew in the first week so far. |
| Stan briefed us on what the new board had decided just minutes earlier. The club roster will come out in April as the by-laws read that we can drop members after the March meeting if their dues have not been paid. We are looking at having the Conclave at Sky Ranch this year and we voted to spend $100 to have them close their restaurant so we could have it to ourselves for the dinner. A Holiday Party committee was formed (Esther, Joyce and Bobbie) to make arrangements. We also voted that $800 of the club's funds be used to help defray costs next years party. (Money comes from last years party auction). And lastly the board made a stand to NOT sell club badges to non-members. |

Gordon Glass, our Program Chair,
has come up with a year's plan. Tonight we have Joe Douglas speaking,
February is "How I got my TC," March we have artist
Bill Motta, April or May we have Meguiars Wax, June brings Art
Ludwick and Rainbird's Rose Parade Float Video, July is the Henkels
picnic, August we have Tony Henkels on his "MGL," September
is old movie night at the Simon Museum, October is the Halloween
costume/pot luck dinner, November we have Al Moss, and December
is our Holiday Party. In order to accommodate Al Moss we voted
and passed that the November meeting would be moved to Monday
night with location to be determined. In our mail bag was a thank you for the gifts we donated from our Holiday Party to the Battered Women's Shelter. They were very appreciative. |
| Stan made a presentation to last
year's president, Ron Simon. Ron received a very nice MG logo
desk piece in thanks for leading us last year. David Coleman our Events Chair is working up a list of events for the year. The Kite Fly is in February, the Conclave in October and all else is open at this time. He asked that if you had an idea for an event, or had specific dates to avoid, to please let him know so it can be accommodated. And with that we adjourned the meeting for dessert (brought by Esther) and to let Joe Douglas set up for his presentation. Minutes submitted by Secretary, Dave Edgar |

Joe brought his vintage slide projector and
showed us some early trips in his TC. |

The top and middle photos show Joe and Jeanne Douglas along with Barney and Mary Lou Jackson on their way up to Lassen Park.
Bottom photo has Joe answering many questions
on owning his TC since new. Joe's TC still has the original paint on it even though it has been polished down to bare metal in a few places. He bought just before Christmas in 1949 |
