TC Motoring Guild General Meeting

At the stroke of 8:00 President Stan Belland brought the meeting to order. First up was a vote to accept the minutes of the last meeting as posted in last newsletter. A second was made and minutes were accepted by a vote.

At 8:01 Gordon & Mimi Glass, Jon and Betsy Lutz and Gene Olson wandered in seeing the meeting progressing and then looking at their watches. Obviously they had not synchronized their watches to Atomic Time as had Stan.

Joyce gave us the treasures report.  Seems we have spent $1,488 so far this year and have $6,841 in liquid assets.  With $3,941 more expenses forecast and budgeted we have $2,900 of unallocated funds left.  Joyce continued with the membership report. With recent new members David Reid & Terry Schuller we are up to 91 members now.

Happy Birthday Harvey

Sarah multi-tasks. Listens to meeting dialog and does volunteer craft work at the same time.

One of the items in our mail bag was a letter from the Swackhamers. They continue on their sail around the world. They are enjoying lots of adventure.

Gordon Glass gave us a program rundown on some of our future meetings.  At our June meeting we have our very own Art Ludwick giving us the inside scoop on Rainbird's Sweepstakes winning Rose Parade floats for the last couple years. July is our annual picnic meeting at the Henkel's home.  Looking ahead to November we are moving the meeting night to Monday to accommodate our guest speaker, Al Moss. We will also move the meeting to the Goodman's home for that month.

Stan announced that Harvey was soon turning another year older so we all sung Happy Birthday to him.

Orders for Motoring Guild shirts are be being taken. They run $40 each and come in a variety of colors, and sizes. See our web site for details or the newsletter.

Our May Wildflower tour was a great event. Lots of flowers and Gene Olson was able to get his TC out for it's first major outing. Good going Gene. Joe lead the merry bunch on some great back roads and everyone had a fabulous time.

Stan and Mimi discuss possible October Guild event tied in with Newport Concours.

Jay Call giving the latest update on his TC rebuild.

Joyce, Mimi and Bob enjoy the goodies.

We are looking for tour ideas. The Otis Chandler tour fell through for now. Would be great to have tours for June through September. Gene Olson and Jay Call may work up a tour for June to the St. Francis Dam. Flyers will be sent out if it comes together. October is the Conclave. Crandalls may work up a Santa Barbara event for November (Pedersens are moving to Atascadero so can't host anymore). We may tie in an event with the Newport Concours in October as well.

Before we broke for refreshments Dick Boyd from PPG paints was introduced as our guest speaker. It was VERY, VERY informative and we thank Dick for the grand presentation. Also thanks to Mike Goodman for making the arrangements to schedule Dick for us and also bringing the refreshments for the night.

We ended our break with Tony calling out the winning raffle numbers for the nice prizes. Everyone seems to like the nicer prizes.

Winding down on the refreshments and ready for Dick Boyd to start his presentation.

Dick takes us back in paint history to when cars were painted black by a brush
and probably didn't even have primer underneath.

Dick progressed in history to the environmentally friendly paints available to us today.
