TC Motoring Guild General Meeting
|
|
|
|
What a site to behold as we entered the meeting room. Old photos, old newsletters, old flyers, old people . . . oops, I mean young at heart members. Our meeting program for the evening is TCMG Nostalgia.
After the usual bit of chit chat Gene got us down to business and called the meeting to order at nine minutes after the hour of 8 o'clock. Minutes were in the last newsletter and the treasures report is on the wall for all to see so we dispensed with the reading of both.

| George was given the floor to rundown the future meeting programs. March we have Don Weaver relating on stories of Carroll Shelby and Parnelli Jones. April is going to be a hobby night.
Onward to events, Jay asked for input on having two big events in March. MG at Laguna Seca is March 20-21 and a desert weekend tour the week previous was too much so the Route 66 Desert Rat Cinder Cone tour will be moved to April. The April weekend in Santa Barbara hit a snag so we dropped that.
A report on the Kite Fly in late, late January was given. Paul Gulsrud flew the kite the highest and won the duk for a year. Gene Olson flew a magnificent MG kite he had designed. Four TCs graced the parking lot. Kites flew but very light winds put a damper on flying so everyone retired to the Kings Head for refreshments.

In new business the topic of the TCMG's 50th Anniversary was brought up. Our 30 year badge shield shows 1954-1984 and going by that 2004 would be our 50th year. However the club incorporated on July 22, 1955 so 2005 would be a logical 50th. We know members met before incorporating so discussion was held to see when we wanted to celebrate. The majority voted for 2005. Ideas of what we should do will be gathered by a committee and once decided, planning will ensue.
The date for the Holiday party was discussed and December 11th was decided upon. This avoids the ARR and VMG parties. Party will be at the Ludwick's home this year. Tony showed us the raffle prizes for the evening. A four piece marble MG trivet set, a model car clock and an MG cap.
Very tasty refreshments were brought in by the Thelanders and everyone enthusiastically dug in and chatted while Pete set up the video on the 1st ARR/TCMG Conclave in 1957

Even Tony got a chuckle out of the memories being retold on this night. |

Here is a sheet from the very first conclave in 1957. Signing in were Dwane Carlson, Ron Simon, Bill Stone, Harvey Doty, Bill Fulton and a few other old timers. |

| On the left we have TCMG member Bill Shedenhelm back in mid 50's showing off his TC to the kids. Bill was stationed in Venezuela at the time. |

Here is an article on the first meeting to form a TC only club.
"The Baby Hasn't Been Named Yet" title means that they had not even come up the TC Motoring Guild name yet. Frank Mason typed this report up.
