TC Motoring Guild General Meeting

Thanks go to Pete Thelander who took these photos and sent them in.

Prior to the business meeting members met outside to show off their "Other Cars"

Larry Haile brought his race prepared Alfa Romeo Guilietta. Careful guys, don't drool on it.

The Crandalls and Kershaws brought out their "B"s to show.
Here is the presidential limo - Gene's VW trike. Lloyd Hendrickson's silver Mustang sits behind it. Lloyd was going to bring his Riley but logistic problems arose.
Above is just what the doctor ordered, Dr. Coleman that is - a nice Mini Cooper
Joe Douglas sits upon his '48 Sunbeam ready to roll while Harvey stands by his Bentley answering questions

What's with all the women surrounding Mike?
These guys can't figure it out either.
Hey, who is the cute guy taking our picture? Why it is Pete Thelander!
Kevin and Anne compare notes as do Bobbie and Norma

The meeting convened informally in the parking lot to observe members’ “Other Car” Night. Several interesting vehicles were driven, notably Larry Haile’s race prepared Alfa Romeo Guilietta, The Crandall’s and Kershaw’s nearly matching white MGB GTs, Harvey Schnaer's Bentley, President Gene Olson’s cut down Volkswagen Trike and Dave Coleman’s modern Mini Cooper – not an S. When asked why he didn’t have a supercharged S model, he said it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow. Joe Douglass showed up on his 1948 Sunbeam motorcycle.

The formal meeting moved into our regular meeting room and was called to order at 8:10 pm. Gene announced that the Edgars were on vacation and there would be no treasurer’s report, but that he had received the balance of $4137.58 by e-mail.

Jim Crandall reported on the Western Heritage Tour. A number of people showed up at the start – two TCs plus four “other” cars – but several left without going on the tour. The Crandalls and Calls were the only ones to actually leave on the tour. They soon realized that they had all seen the place before and abandoned the tour before reaching the finish, which explains why Gene Olson found nobody when he arrived late at the start and likewise found nobody when he rushed on to the finish.

No event is planned for July other than the GoF West in B.C. Canada. Pete Thelander was nominated to be the Guild’s representative at the Steering Committee Meeting.
We were reminded that the Conclave would be Oct 8-10 in Cambria.

Meeting Programs:
July: The Henkels will host the traditional picnic at their house. Flyer will be sent out by mail.
August: A nostalgia night was suggested with possible films of early Guild events to be provided by Jim Crandall and Ron Simon.
Sept: The annual “Not Norton” Simon Museum tour and silent film show.
Oct: Halloween Party

Old Business:
Jim Crandall brought in some old Classic Chassis and other early documents citing the early activities that lead to the formation of the Guild. A motion was made by Ron Simon, seconded and passed to accept the 1954 meetings as the founding date of the club rather than the 1955 date on the incorporation papers.
A lengthy discussion of the 50th anniversary badges followed and it was voted to make the new badges in four inch size including the wreath and correction of the founding date. It was also agreed to make one inch lapel pins and jacket patches.

New Business:
Gene Olson reported on his discussions with Moss Motors about having an all TC “race” at next year’s Buttonwillow extravaganza as part of our ongoing year-long celebration of our 50th anniversary.
