March 23rd, 2004
TC Motoring Guild General Meeting

Don McLish, Joe Douglas and Gordon Glass listen to guest speaker Don Weaver
Gene began our meeting and asked if anyone had corrections or additions to the minutes of the last meeting as presented in the last newsletter. No one spoke so minutes were accepted.

Joyce had posted the treasurers report on the wall showing a balance of $8,990 but with $4,875 of that as budgeted expenses leaving $4,115 of unallocated funds. Also with several of our members paying dues that night we had 91 paid up members for 2004.

Don Weaver was announced as our speaker for the evening. George Kershaw mentioned that our April meeting would be a hobby night program. Details forthcoming.

Jay Call, our events chair, indicated that Saturday is our Klassic Kar, Knoedlen & Yodlin' Tour. Meet in Burbank at 8 for a 8:30 tour departure. Jay also was drumming up interest for the Route 66 Desert Tour Weekend coming up April 23-25.

Non Guild events were brought up. Al Moss's HCT Tour in Sedona had the deadline extended. Tour is October 12-15. The VARA British Extravaganza at Buttonwillow is May 15th and 16th. And we should not forget the GoF in Harrison Hot Springs, July 11-15.

Several of our members had gone to the Laguna Seca MG event the previous weekend and reported that it was a spectacular event. Lots of interesting MGs. There were two MG only races of which the Shingle took both.

The Guild's 50th Anniversary is officially July 22, 2005 but because we know there were meetings before we officially incorporated we decided that we should start celebrations before that date. All suggestions on activities will be considered and maybe kick it off at the picnic meeting in July of this year.

Minutes submitted by Secretary, Dave Edgar

Gene Olson and Gordon Glass got a jump on hobby night with remote control cars. Gordon brought in a model of the new Mini cars and Gene brought in his MG creation. It was fun to watch them zipping around the room before the meeting started. If you have a remote control car, bring it to the next meeting and we can stage a race.
Even Harvey was captivated by Don Weavers stories of his escapades with Parnelli Jones and Carroll Shelby.
Don was more than happy to give out copies of various articles and pictures relating to his exploits.
Below, Don signs pictures for our members.
Carol Hendrickson and George Kershaw find some of Don's stories ammusing.
Raffle prizes were won by Lloyd Hendrickson (two MG books) and by Pete Thelander (a nice Route 66 wheeled tote)
