TC Motoring Guild General Meeting

Pete Thelander gets his laptop and projector ready for his very interesting and informative history of the MG marque presentation.
Gene banged the gavel down and yelled out, "Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to start our meeting." Of course nobody listened. Maybe we didn't realize we were ladies and gentlemen and everyone kept chatting away. Gene tried again and reluctantly the gang quieted down, sat and came to order. Minutes of last meeting were accepted as printed in last newsletter. Treasurers report was also accepted as posted on the wall.

Gene next asked Jay Call for an events report. Jay indicated that we were looking at a Western Heritage tour on June 19th. Would hit the Will Rogers and Gene Autrey Museums as well. Flyers would be sent out when details were firmed up.

Gene asked if there was interest in a tour up to Mt. Baldy. Gordon Glass suggested waiting until fall or early winter before snow fall but when skies are clearer.

Joyce and Stan, winners of the Earl Sargent Award for 2003. Stan kept the trophy for the first half of the year and here passes it onto Joyce.

Our program for the June meeting is "My Other Classic Car." Bring your other classic car or other interesting vehicle to the next meeting. We will start at 7:00 pm in the parking lot outside and then begin the meeting portion at 8:00 inside as normal. July will be our annual picnic meeting and will be the kick-off of our 50th year celebration of the TC Motoring Guild.

Tony said he would be getting the artwork for a 50th anniversary pin soon. A larger size could be made up as well to be used as a belt buckle. General consensus of those at the meeting was that a wreath marking the 50th to fit around the existing badge would be preferable to having a special 50th car badge made up.

Gene reported that the Moss Extravaganza at Buttonwillow was very nice. He was generating interest in gathering 20-30 TCs to be present next year in celebrating our 50th. With that many TCs, there could be a special TC only parade lap put on.

We adjourned the meeting and had cake brought by Charlotte Wilmer and cookies brought by Gene Olson to munch on while getting back to the chatter started before the meeting. After the break Tony held the raffle with Lloyd winning the bench grinder, Pete - the MG trivet, and Jay - the MG wine glass.

Pete then started on his presentation of the history of the MG marque. He began with Cecil Kimber modifying the Morris and went all the way to the present day MG. It's the marque that keeps on going.

Talking Constantly

You'd think that after 50 years we would be talked out by now but somehow there is an endless range of topics that keep us going and going and going and going and . . . . .
OK, so we do take a break to eat now and then.
But it always comes back to the talking.
How many of you noticed that Pete signed in by writing backwards?
