Name: >Dennis & Christopher Markwich

Location: Emmaus, Pennsylvania

TCs owned:
1949 TC 8085 EXU / XPAG 8908, Black / Red

First owner 1950-2008 Joseph O’ Donnell who purchased from Sports cars Inc. Philadelphia, PA for $1,700. Joseph was a physics professor at Lebanon Valley College in PA. He drove the car until 1960, when he put it in his garage on stands and it sat there untouched for 48 years until 2008 when it went into his estate for sale.

Second owner 2008-2024 Russel Hertzog of Texas, USA. Russel was a student of professor Joseph’s at Lebanon College during the 1950s. Russel knew about the TC during those years. He wrote, “EXU ‘Export to USA’ model with all the proper EXU equipment: original dealer-installed working Arnolt heater, the two wind-tone horns under the bonnet and the factory- installed turn signals. My college physics professor in Pennsylvania, Joseph O’ Donnell, bought it new in 1950 on his wedding day (I have the original Bill-of-Sale). Parked on jack stands in 1960. Engine rebuilt and all drive train components refurbished by restoration shop in 2008. Carlisle, Pennsylvania area (Enola).”

Third owner Bob Koons, believed purchased around 2015 (first appearance in TCMG directory). He purchased, but never registered the car in his name, Shortly before Bob’s passing in 2018, the car was returned to Hertzog who had felt buyer’s remorse since the day he sold it to Bob. Russel was now the car’s 2nd and 4th owner, although documents only show the first time he owned it and do not show Bob’s ownership.

Purchased by Dennis Markwich (TCMG) of Emmaus, PA in 2024 from 84 year old Russel. Dennis writes, “The car is a time capsule. I have the original almost everything as it left the factory in 1949. I have the original tools, top, 4 side curtains and full and half tonneaus. All numbers match, engine, frame, and original body tag on the wooden frame. The red wire wheels and brake drums I also have. Russel put on new wheels, tires and Alfin drums. TC # 8085, IMHO is the most original, complete and factory correct EXU I’ve ever come across. It was only driven 11 years before it sat for 48 years untouched and then rarely driven since.”
