Happy 60th Birthday TCMG! The TC Motoring Guild was conceived on June 19, 1954 when a group of like-minded TC enthusiasts met at the offices of Road & Track to draw up the articles for a new, TC-only car club. The articles became official on July 27, 1955, and in September of 1957 our first annual conclave was held with the Abingdon Rough Riders of Northern California. Who knew that after six decades the club would still be going strong and with some of its early founding members still active! Learn more about the history of this club buy visiting the History Pages.
Upcoming meeting: The next TCMG meeting will be held on July 23rd. Ron Simon will be showing an old movie he made titled ”Racing from the 50’s.”, showing racing from Hansen Dam and Santa Barbara plus the English trials in Encino. It also has a copy of the first TCMG/ARR Conclave plus a little bit Ron did with the TC for a Playboy video. See the latest newsletter or the Calendar Page for more program and event info.
Special thanks to Tony and Cindy Henkles for another great picnic / meeting. 37 Members were in attendance with five TCs plus a spattering of other classics.
Events: Our July event will take us to the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, preceded by a gathering for a light brunch in the gardens and garage of TCMG members Steve and Linda Simmons. From there we will caravan by scenic roads to Oxnard to enjoy rows and rows of Bugatti, Delahaye and other amazing exotic classic automobiles. Also visit “Le Mans Pits” to see some incredible race cars of the 1930’s, and the amazing Schlumpf Collection of unrestored classics. Plus, see the iconic “Lady of the Lake”, an unrestored Bugatti pulled from Lake Maggiore after spending 70 years under water! For more program and event info, see the Calendar Page.
Conclave: Our annual conclave will take place October 4-6 at The Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo. Rooms at the hotel vary greatly in price, so to ensure a low room rate be sure to book as early as possible!
Enjoy a driving tour, banquet dinner, and other special events in a wonderful setting. Private, TC-only parking will be available at the hotel along with our own welcome / hospitality room and catered banquet right on the hotel grounds.
See our newsletter and flyer (via mail) more more information, or contact Steve Simmons by using the Contact Page.
Web Site: One of our long-standing regalia items “T-Clinics” is now available as a complete set for FREE download on the Technical Resources page.
As always we are seeking photos for the Members Gallery showing you and your TC. We also welcome member biographies so your fellow TCMG’ers can learn a bit about you, your history with your TC or anything else you care to write about. Historic photos and stories are also being sought to expand our TCMG History section on the site. Please send what you have to Steve Simmons.
