TCMG Loses A Beloved Member

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Deana Roth. Deana with her husband Gene have always been a common sight driving their gorgeous TC to events all over the Western USA including our annual Conclaves and GoF West.

There are no services planned, but cards or letters may be sent to their home address as listed in the club directory.

Ilene Wimer Passes

Ilene Wimer  passed peacefully on October 2 in Cedar City, Utah.  She and her husband Doug, who passed in 2009, were very active with TCMG, and remained members for nearly 50 years.

Doug was president multiple times, Frank Mason Award winner four times, and quite the event planner for TCMG.  He was also involved in organizing one of the GRAB tours.  Ilene was very supportive and was actively involved in all of this.

meetings

tc-holidayDecember 11 is our much anticipated holiday party and annual meeting! This year’s event will be held at Sportsman’s Lodge in Studio City, at 6:00 PM. In addition to great company and lots of food, you will also enjoy the following entertainment and activities:

  • A live auction consisting of MG-related and other items of interest. Item donations for the auction are greatly appreciated and funds raised are used to help run our club!
  • Free ticket upon arrival for a chance to win one of three cash door prizes!  Or think of it as free auction items if you prefer!
  • Awards ceremonies for our three prestigious trophies – Earl Sargent Memorial “Use it or lose it” Trophy, Frank Mason Award, Breakdown Award.
  • Announcement of the 2017 TC Motoring Guild Executive Council.
  • Bring a new, unwrapped toy for our toy drive!

This year, toys will go to the YWCA San Gabriel Valley WINGS Shelter for families seeking refuge from domestic violence and new directions toward sustainable living. This year it would be nice to focus our giving on older children and teens. Some suggestions  to guide your choosing are board games such as Monopoly, Scrabble; jigsaw puzzles of nature, picturesque or historical places (of interest to adults and older children); DVDs of family-type movies; etc. Please choose gifts that do not require batteries and are non-violent in nature. Please bring toy donations UNWRAPPED.

November Recap: Special thanks to Garret Hanes for a very fascinating presentation on his restoration business at our November meeting!  30 members and guests were enthralled by stories and photos of his history in high-end classic sports car restoration.

events

Our monthly driving events concluded for the year with a trip to Valley Relics Museum.  17 Members and guests with four TCs took part, starting at an original 1940’s diner.  A short scenic driving tour brought us to the main event, and afterward a visit to an old-fashioned soda fountain for treats.  See you in February for the Lame Duk Kup!
