The Annual Meeting and Holiday Party is Coming!

Mark your calendars for December 8th and get your meal payments in ASAP! See below for general details. A group email with more detailed info has also been sent to members.

TC Motoring Guild Turns 70 Years Old!

Although the group was loosely assembled back in 1952, TCMG was officially formed on June 19, 1954 in the offices of Road & Track magazine. This June we celebrated 70 years of honoring the MG TC! Our annual Summer Picnic Meeting doubled as a birthday party commemorating our seventh decade as a one make, one model club. A large number of historical artifacts from our archives were on display in a special exhibit put together by Steve Simmons and Rob Zucca. See the August newsletter for photos of this meeting.

TC Provenance List Being Updated and Modernized by TCMG

The well known TC Provenance List was created by TC owner Bob Stein well over a decade ago.  Steve Simmons has assisted with data submissions and updates for the past few years but the list has grown too large to manage by hand.  TC Motoring Guild has jumped in to help update, modernize and maintain the list.  Two of our members, Mike Simmons and Steve Simmons are currently working to convert years of hand typed notes into a sorted and organized database of TC car numbers, owner names, locations and historical data.  The project will take a tremendous amount of man hours but the end result will be a fully modern and searchable database, hosted on the TCMG website.  You can see the old hand-typed Provenance List HERE until the new version is completed.

meetings

The 2024 TCMG Holiday Party will take place on Sunday, December 8 at the Simmons Residence. Join us and enjoy the following entertainment and activities:

  • Awards ceremonies for our three prestigious trophies (no Iron Bottoms this year):
    • Earl Sargent Memorial “Use it or lose it” Trophy
    • Frank Mason Award
    • Breakdown Award
  • Announcement of the 2025 TC Motoring Guild Executive Council.
  • TCMG vintage film presentation.
  • Silent auction of select items plus our annual tradition, auctioning of “The Brick”. This is a piece of the original Abingdon factory where our TCs were built. The wining bid takes the brick home for one year.
  • A raffle where you can win a pile of cash!
  • Our annual Ladies’ drawing for lovely (non-car related) prizes!
  • Slide show of 2024 TCMG tours.
  • Toy Drive and Fundraiser to benefit Foster Children’s Resource Center. Bring a new, unwrapped toy or contact Joyce Edgar to make a cash donation.

Remember, those who drive a TC to the meeting will receive a point toward the Sargent Award, and bragging rights for being in the TC lineup at the entrance!

See our group email for further details, including times and location info.
