My wife bought me a 1952 TD for a retirement gift (I took an early retirement to take care of her medical needs) and the engine in it is tired so I am building a high performance XPAG engine for it and at lunch with the “T” club members this past spring I said as a general statement that when I got the TD engine (it is a stand alone engine. So I am driving it this summer) done, I would think about getting a TB or TC. One of the guys at lunch that day got a letter from a DR. in Iowa that he had a TC,TD and TF for sale. So Garry called me and asked if I was interested in the TC. I said that I need to here a price and about an hour later Garry called back with a price ($18,000) so I called the Dr. the next day and he is telling me how it is about a half step off of being a concourse car. So I tell him that I am 95% sure that I will take the car sight unseen. This is two weeks before the GOF central, So for a week and a half I am trying to get someone from the club to go down to Iowa to look at the car. Can not find anyone to go (all are getting reedy to go to GOF) so on the Saturday before the GOF central. I load up my wife and we make a flying trip to Iowa and when I get there the TC is setting out front of the garages (the DR. has eight garage stalls that are three cars deep. A wonderful Corvette collection) and as I get out of the car and start walking up to the car the DR. says that he did not know how much the TC had appreciated in price. I thought that he was going to ask for more money but he stuck with the price he had told me on the phone so I wrote him a check and went back two weeks later and picked the TC up. Three days after getting the TC home the “T” club had a vent so took the TC and some of them had found out what I had paid and they wanted to have me arrested for theft.

The TC is truly a wonderful car and their are only a couple of small items that I need to do to make it a true show car.
