The 2015 TCMG Holiday Party is Coming!

Our annual holiday party is only weeks away, so mark your calendars for December 13 and send in your meal choices! See the Calendar Page for more information.

TCMG Loses a cherished member

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of an icon in the TC Motoring Guild, Tony Henkels. Besides being a talented machinist, he was a true gentleman and great friend to so many of us over the years that he was in the club. Tony was always ready to help his friends with their cars and offered expert advice at every chance. His wife Cindy writes the following:

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you my beloved Tony passed away last night. Family and a few close friends were here with him. He was such a wonderful loving man and I am truly blessed to have been part of his life. We all will miss him so much!

It was very peaceful as we all said our goodbyes to him. I told him we had such a wonderful life together in sickness and in health until death do us part, and said it was okay for him to go, I didn’t want him to suffer anymore. A minute or two later he took his last breath.

He fought bladder cancer and scans showed he was good, no cancer anywhere, that was just 6 months ago. A lot of time the cancer will return and when it does it is with a vengeance, that is what happened. Just a couple weeks ago we found that it had returned and spread everywhere so we chose to have Hospice come.

When we make arrangements I will let you know. Hope everything is good and well in your lives, enjoy every minute! Love & Hugs, Cindy

Great Turnout at Henkels Service!

The service for TCMG member Tony Henkles brought out 25 club members and five TCs, one of them Tony’s old TC looking as good as ever. Lots of other classics made showings as well, including Tony’s two very original cars, a 1928 Lincoln and a Jaguar XK-120.

meetings

grab

Our next monthly meeting is November 24th.  Our night will start with a brief video presentation by Jim Crandall, showing highlights from the 1992 Great Rally Around Britain in which several TCMG members transported their TCs to England for an extended driving tour. Following the video will be a “show and tell” by former GRABers of their favorite rally photos and other memorabilia. Stan Belland has agreed to lead with his recollections of “How GRAB was born,” followed by anecdotes from other participants ranging from planning and preparation to surviving breakdowns and British weather.

Any TCMG members who may be toying with the wild idea of another “extreme” TC tour should hear these tales of woe as well as the fond recollections. But all members should enjoy the variety of experiences shared by those who were brave enough (read crazy enough) to commit to months of planning and weeks of extended touring in an MGTC.

events

halfway-house-cafeOn Saturday, November 14, cruise through the rural areas of Northern Los Angeles County on this 70-mile tour, featuring a stop at The Halfway House for brunch.  This out-of-the-way eatery was established in 1931 and hasn’t changed much since.  Also enjoy some lesser used byways as we wind our way to where the food is.

Watch for a flyer in the mail with further information!

October event recap: The 59th Annual TCMG / ARR Conclave was well attended with 49 members and guests, and 14 TCs (one a TA) plus other classics.
