Name: Duane Schmidt

Location: Dickerson, Maryland

TCs owned:
1947 TC 3707 / XPAG B 85482 (replacement), Green / Green

Home market car, registration JLA-425 (have one original plate). Imported to U.S. in 1969 to Tennessee. Car was non-operational since 1974. Engine tag is a “Replacement Engine” tag. Unclear when the engine was replaced. I have owned the car since 2017 and am very slow at starting serious restoration work. Car is in very poor condition, needs almost everything.

I am new to British cars, and decided a TC was one of the most iconic designs and had decent parts availability so I chose a TC. And I like working on cars, so wanted a project. The specific car, which has been off the road since at least 1974, is turning out to be in worse shape than I had thought when buying it. It looks like essentially everything needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The body tub wood and metal are in poor condition, but did hold together enough to remove it from the chassis. The chassis had been damaged somewhat and I think partially repaired in the past, but needs some attention too. The engine has had some rebuild machine work (bottom end) done already. It might be debatable whether this car should be resurrected or used as a parts car. I’m proceeding toward resurrecting it, but remaining open to a different project.
