TCMG Loses Three of its Cherished Members

We have recently learned of the passing of Jan McLish. Jan and Don have been active TCMG members for over 40 years, and regulars at both meetings and driving events over that time. Jan has been in our thoughts lately due to some health issues, and on May 4th she was rushed to the hospital where she eventually passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Don and family during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held on May 13 at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 13017 North Lopez Canyon Road, Sylmar at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at Angeles Golf Course Club House at 9401 Foothill Blvd.

With deepest regret, we have been informed of the passing of long-time TCMG member Betty Gaw. Betty, with Marilyn Maxwell at her side (on left of photo), have been members of our group for several decades, making appearances at numerous conclaves and GoF West events. Her beautifully restored TC is still making showings at club events, having first passed through the hands of Lloyd & Carolyn Hendrickson and now cared for by Garret & Ambre Hanes. There is no service planned but there will be a gathering of friends at her home in Atascadero on April 23. If you need further information, contact a club officer.

It is also our sad duty to report the passing of TCMG member Charlotte Wilmer. Charlotte and Bob have been members for a very long time and were active for many years with the club. Charlotte is also known for playing the part of the trophy girl in our 1972 production of “The Great Race”, which can be viewed on our Video Vault page. A group email was recently sent with information on where to send cards. If you need this information, contact a club officer.

TC Motoring Guild has taken another step into the modern age by offering convenient online payment of membership dues and other items.  New members can use our handy Online Application, and existing members can jump straight to the Payments Page where dues can be renewed through PayPal.  Instant payment with no pens or stamps required!

Just added: A new jigsaw puzzle featuring technical drawings of TC parts. NOTE REMOTE LOCATION! The much anticipated Summer Picnic Meeting at the Henkels home on June 21. Note that this is NOT the usual 4th Tuesday meeting! Also note the earlier start time of 7:00 PM. Watch for a flyer in the mail with further information, or contact Cindy Henkels.

The Forty-Third annual GoF West will be held at the Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, Oregon, from June 27 through July 1. Traditionally a pre-1956 MG event, GoF West now welcomes all year model MGs. For more information on this long-running event, visit www.gofwest.org.  Contact Pete Thelander for caravan information.

Note: David Edgar, chairman of GoF West is seeking volunteers to help with various tasks at the event. If you would like to volunteer, let David know.

May Event Recap: 19 members and guests with five TCs took part in this year’s Cherry Picking Tour in May. In addition to enjoying beautiful weather and great driving roads, we hauled away over 20 pounds in delicious cherries!  See the June newsletter for full details and photos.
