The Julian Double Day is Coming!

Our weekend trip to Julian is almost here!  The caravan departs on Wednesday, May 30. If you haven’t made hotel reservations, or require caravan information, contact the event co-organizers Richard Loe or Gorden Bundy.  See the Calendar Page for more information.

2018 Conclave Dates Announced

Our annual conclave with Abingdon Rough Riders will take place October 12-14 at Narrow Gauge Inn in Fish Camp, near Yosemite. Our host hotel is now full but there are still rooms available at our overflow location at “Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn” in Oakhurst.  Make your reservations now!  Contact Allan Chalmers for further information.

meetings

The much anticipated Summer Picnic Meeting at the Henkels home returns for its 20th consecutive year on June 26! Bring a picnic dinner and dine under the stars at this annual favorite. Dessert will be provided by our hostess. Those driving TCs or equally interesting classics (tall order) get preferred parking in the driveway. Note the earlier start time of 7:00 PM. Watch for a flyer in the mail with further information, or contact Cindy Henkels.

May Recap: 19 members were present for our May meeting.  Two TCs driven by Loe and Simmons were parked outside.

For more meeting and event information, visit the Calendar Page.

events

Take a trip to the quaint mountain town of Julian, California, located in the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains of Northeastern San Diego County. Founded during the gold rush of the 1870’s, Julian has retained much of its old west charm and will be our home for two nights of TCs and camaraderie. See where gold was discovered, sample Julian’s famous apple pie, shop stores housed in historic buildings dating back to the 1870’s, hike and picnic amid oaks and pines, sample Julian’s famous apple pie, or ride down Main Street in a horse-drawn carriage. And did we mention the apple pie?

We arrive on Wednesday afternoon and settle in for an “on your own” evening of dinner and shopping. Thursday’s activities will include a scenic drive to Borrego Springs for lunch, and a group dinner in Julian. Friday will feature a TC lineup and group photo before departing for home.  Don’t miss this special event, so book your room today!  (and have some pie)

Hotel reservations must be made by April 30 to guarantee a room.  For hotel reservation info, schedule of activities, etc, see the April newsletter or the flyer which will be showing up in your mailbox when we get closer to the event. For further information, contact Gorden Bundy, June Wennekamp, Richard Loe, or Sandra Loe

April Recap: 14 members and guests and four TCs took part in our Halfway House Brunch.  TCs were driven by Loe, Simmons, Einhorn and one guest.  See the upcoming newsletter for more details.
