TCMG Loses Two Cherished Members

We are saddened to report the passing of two members, Karen Pohle and Joe Marcotte.

Edwin & Karen Pohle

Edwin & Karen Pohle

As reported by Allan Chalmers, Karen had Parkinsons and had been getting progressively worse for a few years. Ed and Karen had moved from Squaw Valley to Auburn recently and Karen had to go into a care facility.  As part of our Northern contingent, Ed and Karen have been regulars at our annual Conclaves for many years as well as long-time active members of the Abingdon Rough Riders.

Joe & Pat Marcotte

Also reported by Allan, Joe had gone into hospital the day after our annual meeting to do a fix on his knee replacement, and caught something that caused great breathing problems. He was on serious oxygen and finally the problem was too much for him. Also part of our Northern contingent, Joe and Pat have also regulars at our annual Conclaves for ages as well as long-time active members of the Abingdon Rough Riders.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of both Karen and Joe.  They will be missed.

meetings

Our next meeting will be held on May 28 at our usual location in Studio City.  TCMG member Joel Shapiro will be giving a talk about the restoration of his Vintage M.G.s.

April recap: 21 members and guests attended our April meeting, with three TCs parked outside driven by Loe, Einhorn and Simmons.  Thanks to Pete Thelander for an entertaining presentation on his many cars and restorations.

One of TC Motoring Guild’s earliest and most active members will be celebrating his 100th birthday this June!  The club has arranged a grand celebration in honor of this momentous occasion.  On Friday, June 28 there will be a private party featuring a live big band at the Viva Rancho Cantina in Burbank.  The show and luncheon will begin at 1 PM and at 3 PM we will be eating birthday cake and then have the opportunity to say a few words to our birthday boy.  Cost is $30 per person which includes lunch.  RSVP to Larry Einhorn to payment and other details on this landmark event!

May Recap: 23 members and guests with seven TCs participated in our Stagecoach Inn tour and back yard picnic.  Many thanks to Linda Simmons for providing the garden setting and delicious desserts for our picnic!
