April Event Date Change

Due to scheduling conflicts, our April event has been rescheduled for Friday, May 3.  Please note the new date in your calendars.  See below for event details and be sure to RSVP if you plan to attend!  Contact Steve Simmons with any questions.

TCMG Loses Two Cherished Members

We are saddened to report the passing of two members, Karen Pohle and Joe Marcotte.

Edwin & Karen Pohle

Edwin & Karen Pohle

As reported by Allan Chalmers, Karen had Parkinsons and had been getting progressively worse for a few years. Ed and Karen had moved from Squaw Valley to Auburn recently and Karen had to go into a care facility.  As part of our Northern contingent, Ed and Karen have been regulars at our annual Conclaves for many years as well as long-time active members of the Abingdon Rough Riders.

Joe & Pat Marcotte

Joe & Pat Marcotte

Also reported by Allan, Joe had gone into hospital the day after our annual meeting to do a fix on his knee replacement, and caught something that caused great breathing problems. He was on serious oxygen and finally the problem was too much for him. Also part of our Northern contingent, Joe and Pat have also regulars at our annual Conclaves for ages as well as long-time active members of the Abingdon Rough Riders.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of both Karen and Joe.  They will be missed.

meetings

Our next meeting will be held on May 28 at our usual location in Studio City.  TCMG member Joel Shapiro will be giving a talk about the restoration of his Vintage M.G.s.

April recap: 21 members and guests attended our April meeting, with three TCs parked outside driven by Loe, Einhorn and Simmons.  Thanks to Pete Thelander for an entertaining presentation on his many cars and restorations.

events

Join us on Friday, May 3 for a tour, picnic and Linda’s baked goodies!

From our meeting point in Westlake Village, we embark on a 15-mile scenic driving tour to the Stagecoach Inn Museum in Newbury Park. Built in 1876, the museum was originally a hotel and is now a historical landmark. Here we will enjoy a 90-minute guided tour of the museum, a schoolhouse built in 1888, and the blacksmith shop. Also see a pioneer home, a Mexican adobe and a Chumash dwelling, all representing different historical eras of the Conejo Valley.

After the tour it’s a short drive to the Simmons residence for a picnic lunch. Bring your picnic basket (or grab lunch to go) and dine in the garden! Desserts and beverages will be provided by Linda Simmons. For those interested, we will be performing basic TC maintenance tasks in the garage after the picnic. Watch for a flyer in the mail with details on meeting time and location.

NOTE: If you plan to attend this event (tour and/or picnic) please RSVP to Steve Simmons.

March Recap: 19 members and guests experienced the recent “super bloom” of poppies in Lancaster.  Four TCs were present driven by Loe, Simmons, Olson and Mathison.
