TC Motoring Guild at GoF West
Despite a smaller turnout than usual due to the ongoing pandemic, TCMG made a good showing at GoF West in Oregon last month. Six TCs departed, with one suffering mechanical issues at the halfway point of its journey. Look for photos and stories in the upcoming newsletter. Congratulations to all those who won awards at the event! Winners are listed below.

TCMG Expands In-Person Activities
Since returning to in-person driving events in March, we have adapted to offer fun and safe activities for our members. Scenic drives and picnics have become a common activity, which is reminiscent of the early days of the club. Our faces may have aged a little over the years but the cars still look as young as ever!
On June 22, the first in-person meeting since the pandemic started was held at the Henkels home. 2020 was the first time this annual picnic was canceled since the first one over 25 years ago, but fortunately we were able to hold it again this year. Further adapting to current events, we experimented with a live web broadcast of the meeting which went well. Members who we not able, or not comfortable attending in person were able to talk to those at the picnic and see the TCs on display.
Our next monthly meeting will be held via Zoom on August 24. Our program for the evening is “Abingdon’s Last Days”. TCMG member John Bowyer of Spring, TX. made a couple of trips to the Abingdon MG factory and has a large number of photos that were once the factory’s property, as well as memorabilia relating to the factory’s final years. Don’t miss this fascinating presentation, as you won’t see many of these items anywhere else!
The meeting starts at 6:00 PM (Pacific). Members may join 15 minutes early.
Note that anyone making a simulated journey to the meeting in a TC by driving a minimum of 10 miles on the day of the meeting will receive a point toward the Sargent Award.
July recap: 21 members participated in our July meeting. 5 TCs were driven a simulated 10-mile journey by Loe, Lemieux, Simmons, Hunsberger and Zucca.
For more meeting and event information, visit the Calendar Page.
On Sunday, September 12, TCMG member Rob Zucca will lead a special tour of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library’s newest exhibit, “FBI: From Al Capone to Al Qaeda”. He has also obtained permission for us to view the Situation Room that was disassembled from the G. W. Bush White House and installed at the Library, one of Rob’s special projects.
Special parking for TCs has been arranged adjacent to picnic tables where we will have a picnic lunch. Bring your own picnic basket or purchase food at the library cafe.
We have been granted a discount of $5.00 per ticket if ordered online. The TCMG Executive Board has also agreed to comp an additional $10.00 per member reducing the entrance fee to $11.95 for seniors and $14.95 for general admission (check website for additional categories).
Please email Richard Loe to RSVP and receive the promo code for the discount. To avoid finding tickets sold out, plan on ordering by September 1st. See the upcoming newsletter or contact Richard for details on meeting location and time.
August Recap: 31 members and guests took part in our August event. Five TCs were present, driven by Loe, Simmons, Zucca, Ockwell and Einhorn. Many thanks to the Einhorns for hosting another memorable hot dog party at their amazing home!

As always we are seeking photos for the Members Gallery showing you and your TC. We also welcome member biographies so your fellow TCMG’ers can learn a bit about you, your history with your TC or anything else you care to write about. Historic photos and stories are also being sought to expand our TCMG History section on the site. Please send what you have to Steve Simmons.
