On September 27, TCMG member John Visconsi will be giving a fascinating presentation on his automotive sculptures. John spends countless hours fabricating each piece by hand using 3/8″ tubing to create unique and beautiful artistic creations to represent various auto makes and models. See the techniques and skills involved to create an automotive art piece like no other at this most interesting presentation.

Don’t miss our premiere event of the year, the Annual Conclave with the Abingdon Rough Riders! This year’s event is a special a 3-night celebration (October 6-9), marking the 60th consecutive year we will meet with our friends from the north. Special activities are being planned by ARR, the hosts of this year’s event. The location will be The Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo, next door to the site of our first conclave in 1957. August Event Recap: Our August tour of the Will Rogers Estate brought out two TCs plus some modern machines for a beautiful day spent touring the house, grounds and stables. TCs were driven by Loe and Simmons.

NOTE REMOTE LOCATION! Our next monthly meeting on August 23 will be held at the Simon Auto Museum in Gardena. Meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Sit among the amazing cars and automobilia of TCMG members Ron and Dave Simon’s auto museum while enjoying our annual movie night! Popcorn and refreshments will be provided. Watch for a flyer in the mail with details on our feature presentation.
On Saturday, August 13 we will gather at historic Will Rogers State Park for a guided tour of the Will Rogers home, barn and grounds. Tours are on a first come, first served basis so plan to arrive early to ensure you get a ticket! We plan to meet in front of the house at 9:30 AM, and the first tour starts at 10:00 AM. The tour is free, and parking is $11 for seniors, $12 for the Simmons. Watch for a flyer in the mail with full details.
Our next monthly meeting will be held on July 26th. The program is “MGs Through The Ages”, presented by our own MG expert Pete Thelander. We will learn the details of the various models produced by The M.G. Car Company from its conception onward. You would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable person on this subject, so join us for this opportunity to learn something new about the cars we love!
On Sunday, July 10, TCMG members Kay and Larry Einhorn will be hosting one of their world-famous Chicago-themed hot dog parties at their home in Encino. The day will start with breakfast snacks at the Crandall home in Malibu, followed by a 90-minute scenic driving tour to reach the site of the hot dogs.
The Forty-Third annual GoF West will be held at the Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, Oregon, from June 27 through July 1. Traditionally a pre-1956 MG event, GoF West now welcomes all year model MGs. For more information on this long-running event, visit
On Sunday May 29, take part in a fun day of driving along country roads and picking your own cherries right from the trees in the orchards of scenic Leona Valley. You will find new ways to enjoy fresh cherries once you get home, assuming you haven’t eaten your entire haul already!
Our driving tour will take us on a scenic 40-mile route along back roads through the Santa Clarita Valley and over the Sierra Pelona Mountains to Leona Valley.
Our next monthly meeting on April 26, will feature a special guest, Simon Boadle from Australia, who along with his wife Maddie has driven an MGB GT across entire continents in the name of adventure. Simon will give a presentation on his travels, detailing the rewards and challenges of taking on such a feat. The photo shown here is near the border between Ecuador and Peru. Our event for April is the annual Wine Country Getaway! Meet at the Simmons home for a light brunch before embarking on a memorable trip to Santa Barbara. Our journey will take us along a relaxing 80-mile scenic route to Santa Barbara on Wednesday. Thursday will include a scenic drive over the Santa Ynez Mountains and into wine country for the afternoon, stopping for lunch and other special activities.

At our next monthly meeting on March 22, TCMG member Gorden Bundy will give a presentation on the various projects he’s working on in his garage, including his TC, a recently acquired TF and his latest purchase, a custom enclosed trailer that was designed to carry a TD. This will be an open discussion program where members (especially those with trailer experience) can give suggestions on various aspects of the work being performed. There will also be a picture or two of other recent additions to his garage, a Ural motorcycle with side car and a BMW adventure bike. This is sure to be a fun presentation!
Our day starts in Malibu with breakfast and an incredible scenic drive through the Santa Monica Mountains and quiet country back roads, terminating at the museum. Lunch will follow the event at a nearby restaurant. This is an event not to be missed! Our next monthly meeting is on February 23rd at the usual Montrose location. The program is Movie Night, where members will be showing a one-hour presentation of early photos and stories from the Pebble Beach Road Races. We will hear quips about the races from TCMG member Bob Koons, who races TCs and presently owns one of the cars that ran in the first race at Pebble Beach. Listen to interviews from the men who were there, and see the likes of Al Moss, Carroll Shelby, Phil Hill and Stirling Moss racing through the trees. See TCs pushing the corners, glimpses of the Flying Shingle plus many other fabulous race cars of the past in action. A truly wonderful presentation you are sure to enjoy!

The 2015 holiday party will be held on Sunday, December 13 at Hotel Huntington Beach. A block of rooms are being held at the hotel for those traveling in from longer distances. On Saturday, November 14, cruise through the rural areas of Northern Los Angeles County on this 70-mile tour, featuring a stop at The Halfway House for brunch. This out-of-the-way eatery was established in 1931 and hasn’t changed much since. Also enjoy some lesser used byways as we wind our way to where the food is.

Note location change! Our annual movie night on September 22 has moved back to our regular Montrose location this year. The presentation will be part one of a two-part program on Route 66, a road that has captured the imagination of generations, both home and abroad. In this video, you will travel the “Mother Road” with noted author and highway historian Michael Wallis as he revisits the tourist spots and quaint motels, secret corners and little towns made famous by his popular book.
Our next event on September 12 takes us to the Gene Autry Museum for a special exhibit on the Civil War in the Western states. “Empire and Liberty” is the first major museum exhibition to examine the American Civil War from the vantage point of Westward expansion. Explore an array of more than 200 artifacts, including Texas slave sale documents, Andrés Pico’s war drum, the battle flag carried by soldiers of the California Hundred, a Buffalo Soldier’s revolver, and Cherokee General Stand Watie’s bowie knife. This exhibition shows how the Civil War was more than a clash between the North and South; it was part of a history of how America would expand.
