As always we are seeking photos for the Members Gallery showing you and your TC. Historic photos and stories are also being sought to expand our TCMG History section on the site. Please send what you have to Steve Simmons.
Our October event is the 62nd Annual Conclave of the TC Motoring Guild and Abingdon Rough Riders, which will be held October 12-14 in Fish Camp near Yosemite. See the latest newsletter for more information, or contact the event coordinator, Allan Chalmers.
Our September meeting will be held on the 25th at our usual Studio City location. The evening’s entertainment will include a once lost video entitled “Rally Round”. This video comedy was made during the 18th Annual San Diego Double Day event in 1989 and was shot by Gayne and Doug Wimer with help from several other TCMG members. It depicts a “typical” navigational rally of the time and stars many long-time TCMG personalities, many who are still members today. See the exploits of Belland, Bundy, Chalmers, Coleman, Crandall, Lutz, Roth, Schnaer, Simon, Wilmer and Wimer as they compete to win in this totally oddball production recently re-discovered and digitized by Allan Chalmers. Also included are lots of outtakes and behind the scenes footage that are just as entertaining as the video itself!
Our September driving event will take us on a multi-day adventure north along the Sierra Nevada Mountains, through Gold Country and across to Lake Tahoe for GoF West. This all-M.G. event runs September 10-14. See the
Mark August 18 on your calendar so you don’t miss this crowd favorite! TCMG members Kay and Larry Einhorn will be hosting one of their world-famous Chicago-themed hot dog parties at their home in Encino. A driving tour will precede the party.
Our next monthly meeting will be held on July 24 at our normal location in Studio City. Our historian Don McLish will be presenting a video on the history of the M.G. marque. Learn about the various models M.G. produced from the earliest days through the later years, many which are not commonly seen on our shores.
next monthly meeting will be held on July 24 at our normal location in Studio City. The evening’s program is still in the works so check back soon!
On Sunday, July 15, spend a day surrounded by classic lines and good friends at one of the best British car shows in Southern California. Bring your TC if you can, and don’t forget a picnic lunch and a blanket or chairs! Run by the Central Coast British Car Club, the show is set in the cool ocean breeze at Channel Islands Park in Oxnard. What better way is there to spend a Summer day?
The much anticipated Summer Picnic Meeting at the Henkels home returns for its 20th consecutive year on June 26! Bring a picnic dinner and dine under the stars at this annual favorite. Dessert will be provided by our hostess. Those driving TCs or equally interesting classics (tall order) get preferred parking in the driveway. Note the earlier start time of 7:00 PM. Watch for a flyer in the mail with further information, or contact Cindy Henkels.
farmlands to Santa Paula, the “Citrus Capitol of the World”.

Our next event will be held on Saturday, April 21. Cruise through the rural areas of Northern Los Angeles County on this 70-mile tour, featuring a stop at The Halfway House for brunch. This out-of-the-way eatery was established in 1931 and hasn’t changed much since. Also enjoy some lesser used byways as we wind our way to where the food is.
Our next meeting will be held on March 27 in Studio City. The evening’s program will be a video by TCMG member and MG guru Mike Goodman on T-Series fuel systems. The video dates from 1986, produced by David Coleman and filmed by Doug Wimer, and covers all aspects of the fuel systems found in TCs including fuel tank fuel pump and carburetors. Design and maintenance as well as various safety aspects will be discussed.
On Sunday, March 11 we visit Andres Pico Adobe, named for Pio Pico (Pico Blvd) built in 1834 and one of the oldest adobe structures in Los Angeles. For those who come hungry, we start our day with lunch at a nearby restaurant before caravanning to the Adobe. Once there, we’ll enjoy a private guided tour of the various structures on the grounds.
Our next meeting will be held on February 27 in Studio City. The evening’s guest speaker will be TCMG member Mel Appell, who along with his wife Toni will be giving a special multimedia presentation about their power cruising adventures across the ocean.
Start off the new year with a thrilling, no holds barred TC Motoring Guild miniature golf competition! The winner takes home our coveted Lame Duk Kup Trophy, to be treasured for one whole year. Lunch and awards will follow at the nearby Robin Hood British Pub.
At our next monthly meeting on January 23, the crowd favorite returns with your award-winning (through cheating) host, Gene Olson! Teams will compete for fabulous prizes (or not) by spinning the wheel and answering trivia questions. Look for the TC in the parking lot with one wheel missing and you’ll know you’re in the right place!
Our driving events concluded for the year with our November outing to Los Encinos Adobe. Three TCs plus some modern iron made a showing. The TCs were driven by Simmons, Einhorn and Loe. Join us in February for the Lame Duk Kup!
NOTE DATE CHANGE! Our November meeting will be held on the 14th at our usual meeting spot in Studio City. Our program for the evening will feature an M.G.-related movie, to be announced later.
Join us on November 12 for a tour of Rancho Los Encinos, an adobe rancho built in 1849 on the site of an ancient Native American village. The rancho is located on the original El Camino Real route (now Ventura Blvd) in the city of Encino (spanish for “Oak”), which is named for the rancho. We will learn the rich history of the rancho and tour the various buildings constructed on the site in the mid to late 1800’s, plus the stone-lined pond, in the shape of a Spanish guitar built on a spring by the Garnier brothers in the early 1870’s. A driving tour will precede the event, circumnavigating the original border of the 4,460 acre property. Afterward we will gather for lunch at a restaurant adjacent to the pond.
